The Textile Institute was established in 1910 and is the chartered professional Institute in textiles, clothing and footwear. We embrace all professional disciplines of the TCF industries. Our members represent all sectors, ranging from raw materials to high fashion products.

Membership of the Textile Institute is unique in that it is your organisation and you have the opportunity to build on the achievements of members past and present in their efforts to strengthen our industry.

The Institute is a world wide professional association and the only professional body in Australasia able to verify qualifications and provide accreditation within the TCF industries with international recognition.

Factory tours, seminars and special events are organised throughout the year.

The Institute provides an enviable National Awards Program for textiles and design students. The Program allows planning of National Competitions for industry students and include the long standing Fashion Design Awards, Innovation (includes non apparel textiles innovation) and National Student of the Year - a prestigious Awards Program that is highly regarded by industry. All Awards provide students with a unique opportunity to come "face to face" with industry leaders as the students plan their textiles and fashion career path.

The Awards provide an avenue that allows the youth of our industry to showcase their innovation in textiles and design with many rewards and recognition for the winning students including cash prizes, work experience placement, assurance of employment, and attending the renowned Paris American Academy for a month long personal tuition and workshop program.
